A placket that does not wave

The front of a cardigan is the part that fails first. We interface the placket so it stays flat after the third wash, reinforce the buttonholes, and sew every button on a shank so it sits over the knit instead of sinking into it. Fit through the bust is checked on three sizes, because a cardigan that gapes between buttons is a cardigan that stays on the hanger. Cable panels are tested for weight as well as texture: they should hold a line without stiffening the body under them.
